A photo a week: Week 8

The circularity of the architecture of The Marina Barrage, Singapore, is aptly captured in this picture, with the 3-pillar-like feature of the Marina Bay Sands, clearly seen on the left side of the background. Taken in 2010, the green rooftop of the former, which is as large as four football fields, adds a depth of greenery, and I presume, lends some degree of credence to the main role of the building itself, which is widely seen as a symbol of Singapore's efforts in the areas of water recycling and water resources enhancement.

A photo a week: Week 7

Taken at the 'foot' of the Eiffel Tower, Paris, France during my vacation in 2008. It was truly mesmerizing to be at the base of one of the architectural marvels of the world. Up close, you can truly see the scale and enormity of the project being undertaken by those who built her in the 19th century...and considering that technology was not like what we have now, it was indeed a superlatively 'Herculean' effort...structurally beautiful and a sight to behold.

A photo a week: Week 6

Taken during the first day of the 2010 Chinese Lunar New Year, which also happens to coincide with Valentine's Day, this picture was inspired by the trails of ants that I saw as I immersed myself in the greenery that the Kent Ridge Park@Singapore has to offer. It helps that there weren't that many people around on that day. The weather was fantastic, and the surrounding that morning was so serene and soothing. The lush greenery in the midst of Singapore's urban jungle just adds on to the whole scheme of things.

A photo a week: Week 5

This picture was taken on a hot Saturday afternoon on the green rooftop of The Marina Barrage, Singapore. The blue skies on the hot afternoon day was a blessing for me, as the blue hues of the skies, and the greenery of the field just gave me an idea of how to compose the picture. Well, I thought of editing out the other 'distracting' features on the right, but I guess it was one of those things where I don't think I want to overdo the 'Photoshopping' too much.

A photo a week: Week 4

This picture, taken on a hot late weekday afternoon, just brings back memories of my high school, when everyone participated in the annual school cross-country. This spot was one of my favourite spots, to unwind and cool down, especially after the 5 km run. Looking at it when I was photographing this, it sure brings back some sweet, yet tiresome memories, of mornings, and afternoons, running in the green forested areas, feeling at peace and one with nature. Those were the memories of MacRitchie Reservoir.

A photo a week: Week 2

This photo was taken during my first outdoor lesson on photography in 2008. Taken with my first DSLR, an Olympus E-510, during a rather cloudy day at Clarke Quay, Singapore, it was a rather surprising one for me as I thought that this was initially just a bland shot. But with some minor colour adjustments, it made me realise that it  does look like the UN building in New York, in autumn. I guess sometimes the greatest of gems comes from those that doesn't seem to look like one in the first place.

A photo a week: Week 1

This was taken during my vacation to Melbourne and Sydney in June 2010, specifically at the Olympic Park jetty, Sydney, just outside the sporting facilities of the Sydney Olympics. The end of the city tour coincides very nicely with the magic hour. The sunset was perfect, the weather excellent! I just couldn't help but capture the jetty, in all its 'Magic Hour' glory.
